Player ratings
Each player record includes batting, bowling, fielding, and experience values. Draft-facing ratings are visible in Classic mode and hidden in Memory mode.
Methodology
A high-level guide to the model behind the game.
Ashes 5-0 uses player ratings and role-based lineup rules to compare historic players, balance XIs, and simulate series or tournaments.
Methodology
This page explains the current high-level approach from the codebase. Read the About page for project context or send feedback if you spot a data issue.
Each player record includes batting, bowling, fielding, and experience values. Draft-facing ratings are visible in Classic mode and hidden in Memory mode.
Every XI slot has accepted cricket roles. Drafting logic checks whether a player can fill the required slot before they can be assigned.
Historic players are compared through the shared ratings model rather than through one single raw era statistic. The goal is to make mixed-era drafts playable without pretending the model is perfect.
The game derives team strength from the finished XI, with batting, bowling, fielding, and experience combined into an overall power score.
Match outcomes use team strength, slot fit, and weighted random variation. Stronger teams have the edge, but the result is not completely deterministic.
If you spot a data issue, a role mismatch, or a rating that looks off, use the feedback form so it can be reviewed and corrected.
